In December 2022, a committee of faculty, staff, and administrators formed to conduct a review of Temple University’s School and College Standard Bylaws (policy 01.20.11). As part of this initiative, which was a priority of the Faculty Senate, this committee will examine all aspects of the current bylaws with an eye toward ensuring that faculty have ample opportunity to contribute to academic operations, strategic planning, and prioritization at Temple.

Key Objectives

“To ensure that faculty have meaningful input in shared governance, it is important to make sure that each collegial assembly functions well and that schools and colleges regularly undertake periodic review of their policies and practices. This committee continues to work to ensure that the principles of shared governance are embodied at the highest levels in a way that serves the best interest of all stakeholders.”

“Having served as a faculty member and administrator, I am both inspired and humbled by the talents, wisdom, and diverse experiences of our Temple community members. It is through reviews like this, that we align around shared priorities and strong outcomes that will set us up for success now and in the future. The potential for innovation and growth in shared governance is immense when we all work together.”
